The Dunes at Maui Lani hosted 15 members of Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui on Jan. 25 at a Pro Golf Clinic held at the course. Led by PGA master professional Bill Greenleaf and the club’s director of golf, Garrett Okamura, the youths, ages 9 to 12, were given a 90-minute clinic that included an introduction to golf techniques and hands-on coaching in hitting the ball.

The pros were assisted by volunteers Robert Greenleaf and Jordan Terada.

“Our goal for this clinic was for the kids to walk away feeling good about themselves, and being motivated and encouraged about their health and fitness,” said Greenleaf. “It’s all about giving kids more self-confidence.”

BGCM Director of Health and Fitness Ryan Smith said the kids were excited about the clinic and learned a lot from the pros.

“Golf is a great sport for kids to participate in, plus it’s fun,” Smith said. “We really appreciate the Dunes at Maui Lani for providing this opportunity for our club members.”

Refreshments for the clinic were donated by Cafe O’Lei at the Dunes.
